On the night “How I Met Your Mother” celebrated its 100th episode, CBS’ spotlight sitcoms continued to be “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men,” which powered the Eye to a Monday primetime victory among viewers 18-49 and overall.
Fox finished second in the demo Monday and won the 8 p.m. timeslot thanks to “House” (4.6 rating/12 share in 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen). ABC drew a solid performance from its two-hour presentation of “The Bachelor” (3.6/9, 10.5 million) — the most-watched second episode in the franchise since 2003.
“Mother” (3.0/10, 9.8 million) had its best numbers in the demo since April. It was followed on CBS at 8:30 p.m. by “Accidentally on Purpose” (3.2/8, 8.5 million).
NBC’s “Chuck” (2.6/7, 7.3 million), kicking off its third season with its third episode in two nights, virtually matched its Sunday numbers, continuing to show improvement over season two with its best numbers since its 3-D broadcast nearly a year ago.
At 9 p.m., “Two and a Half Men” (5.4/13, 17.3 million) and “Big Bang” (5.7/14, 15.8 million) dominated, with “Bang” achieving series highs in the demo and overall. That topped a special airing of “Fringe” (2.8/7, 7.8 million), the second hour of “Bachelor” and NBC’s “Heroes” (2.1/5, 4.7 million), which had its lowest-ever rating for a firstrun episode.
CBS’ “CSI: Miami” (3.6/10, 13.5 million) took home the 10 p.m. trophy, ahead of ABC’s “Castle” (2.6/7, 9.5 million). Despite (or perhaps because of) all the publicity surrounding the show, NBC’s first airing of “The Jay Leno Show” (1.5/4, 4.4 million) since Sunday’s announcement that the comedian would be moving back to latenight next month showed a slight bump, with its highest Monday 18-49 rating in the past 13 weeks. Rachel Bilson. Stacy Keibler. Carrie Underwood. How many hot girls can one show handle?! At least one more if you ask How I Met Your Mother’s resident ladies man, Neil Patrick Harris.
“I still want Betty White. How awesome would it be if Barney Stinson was totally macking on Betty White? Come on,” teased NPH.
I caught up with the fabulous folks of HIMYM Wednesday night when the show was honored by the Paley Center for Media, and Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, and Cobie Smulders all answered your burning fan Qs. Are we about to meet the elusive mom? Are Lily and Marshall baby-bound? Will Robin and Barney ever reunite? (Source)
Just as Ted Mosby has grown while telling his children the story of how he met their mother, so has CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother.” Gathered Thursday night at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills to celebrate “Mother’s” 100th episode, stars Josh Radnor (Ted), Jason Segel (Marshall), Cobie Smulders (Robin), Neil Patrick Harris (Barney) and Alyson Hannigan (Lily) as well as executive producers/co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and executive producer/director Pamela Fryman shared several stories, including how the cast genuinely click as friends.
Starting with when Hannigan crossed paths with friend Harris during network auditions for “Mother,” the cast treated the packed house with a hint of what a day on their set would be like — “We’ll just spend hours doing cat puns,” Hannigan said. From that point forward, no response was sacred as “litter,” “paws,” “catamarans,” “purr-fect” and more were all worked into the conversation.
Topics bounced around the panel like the random yet serialized nature of the show and included Bays’ reveal that series lothario Barney Stinson was initially envisioned as a large “John Belushi-type” until Harris walked in. The role of Lily Eriksen, however, was always meant for Hannigan, who spent six seasons playing Willow on Joss Whedon’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
As for when Ted will — finally — meet the mother, Thomas was coy:
“We always feel like a Bush-era secretary when asked that question,” he joked.
“We like the idea that he doesn’t have a kid yet but he’s already a dad,” Bays added.
“If we keep waiting, science will catch up and there’s no reason that Marshall won’t be the mother,” Segel joked.
“How I Met Your Mother’s” 100th episode airs Monday.

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan wants Jennifer Aniston to make a cameo on the show. Hannigan, 35, plays the character Lily Aldrin in the CBS TV series and country singer Carrie Underwood will soon be making an appearance.
But Hannigan, who is famous for starring in the American Pie movie series, wants Jennifer Aniston to guest-star. Talking about Aniston making a cameo, she said: ‘I’m going to put that out there!’
Her co-star Cobie Smulders added whom she would like to make a cameo: ‘If Meryl’s free, that’d be nice.’
We’ve heard creator Carter Bays’s take on the divisive “How I Met Your Mother”, Robin-Barney relationship/breakup, but what do the actors involved think? Cobie Smulders says:
“It’s a little bit like, ‘Um, guys, am I really going to sleep my way through the entire cast or what.’ [Laughs] Robin just gets tossed around up in here! Like, come on! Doesn’t anyone else think this is weird? If you actually sleep with your ex-boyfriend’s best friend, there are bound to be more serious repercussions!”

I would like to give a big congratulations to “How I Met Your Mother” star, Alyson Hannigan on her “Best Actress Comedy” win tonight at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards. After her win, Alyson tweeted:
OMG!!! I won?!? I’m so grateful to all of YOU!!! Thanks to my TWEEPS that voted for me!
Unfortunately, both Neil Patrick Harris (Best Actor Comedy) and “How I Met Your Mother” (Best Show Comedy) did not win tonight.
t’s been a winter of milestones for Carrie Underwood. First, the country singer got engaged to Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher. Next, she will make her acting debut on an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother. Underwood will play Tiffany, an enigmatic pharmaceutical sales rep and love interest for Ted (played by Josh Radnor), in an episode scheduled to air in March.
The CBS comedy series celebrates its 100th episode on Jan. 11, when Stacy Keibler will join the show as a guest. That milestone will also mark the beginning of a guest arch for Rachel Bilson, who may or may not be The One.
Tell us: Who else would you like to see as a guest star on How I Met Your Mother? (Source)
