The latest Netflix series began streaming all 8 episodes of A Series of Unfortunate Events on January 13th — Friday the 13th to be exact. The series stars Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf and Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket.
Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events” can be a rather complicated show to explain succinctly, but the new Netflix original series is clear about one point at the onset and throughout: You shouldn’t watch it.
Each episode opens with Neil Patrick Harris begging audiences to avert their eyes (via an opening song, aptly titled “Look Away”). Patrick Warburton then cautions, directly to camera, “If you are interested in stories with happy endings, then you’d be better off somewhere else.” Even the musical number closing Season 1 circles around the line, “You might dream that justice and peace win the day, but that’s not how this story goes.”
The new series has received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Viewers were surprised to see two unannounced actors make an appearance — Will Arnett and Cobie Smulders were featured in a special appearance as ‘Mother’ and ‘Father.’
A Series of Unfortunate Events is now streaming on Netflix.
