Cobie Talks “How I Met Your Mother” Spinoff

White promoting the DVD release of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Cobie was asked by to Digital Spy about the potential spinoff series, How I Met Your Dad:

“I don’t know much about it. It’s so funny, over the holidays I was hanging out with Carter and Craig, and they didn’t seem to know much about it either.

“I don’t know what the intention is with it, but it makes me happy that people still want to hear that story. I think the way our show was shot, with the narration and the flashbacks, it enabled a lot of freedom in storytelling, and luckily audiences really liked that and I think that’s what they’re trying to recreate.

“I don’t have anything to do with it, I don’t think anyone on our cast does. I remember when they tried to do the other spinoff, there was no conversation about any of us participating. I think it’ll be its own thing, but the way it is shot will be quite similar.”

Taran Killam Talks Cobie’s Broadway Debut

Taran Killam may be famous for his snarky impressions of Matthew McConaughey and Brad Pitt on Saturday Night Live, but he is now busy taking on his biggest real-life persona: King George III in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Taran spoke about supporting Cobie and her upcoming Broadway debut in, Present Laughter:

Your wife [Cobie Smulders] is about to make her Broadway debut in Present Laughter. How have you been supporting each other before taking the stage?
We have a family, so the real support comes in being there for each other to study, memorize and train. My wife moved out here after How I Met Your Mother, and her only creative goal was to do a Broadway show. I am unbelievably excited for her and proud. I can’t wait to see her on the stage with Kevin Klein — it’s going to be really cool.

Are you going to take a day off to go see her?
I am. We overlap for a little bit and then I will be free in time for her opening.

Cobie Joins Broadway’s “Present Laughter”

Cobie is heading to Broadway! Cobie will star in the upcoming production of Noël Coward’s Present Laughter which officially opens on April 5th! The production also features Kevin Kline, Tedra Millan, Joanna Lyppiatt, Kristine Nielsen and Kate Burton. Check out the synopsis below:

A self-obsessed actor (is there any other kind?) is having a midlife crisis. This leading man gets led astray by indulging his appetite for wine, women, and sleeping late, not necessarily in that order. A theater favorite, he finds himself caught amid crazed playwrights (is there any other kind?), fawning ingenues, secret trysts, and unexpected twists.

Who better to star in this Noël Coward comedy than real-life theater favorite Kevin Kline? Kline, a Tony- and Academy Award winner, takes on the role once filled by the playwright himself. Under the direction of Moritz von Stuelpnagel, this revival of Present Laughter promises to deliver on its title.
